| In the animations It Started Here, I allude to different science
fiction movies, where aliens visit earth. The locations in the
animations are places in Los Angelse, which in different ways are
linked to the religious movement Scientology. As suggested by the
title, it was in Los Angelse that this movement took off. Their first
church was built in the 50’s in Los Angeles, a couple of blocks
from Hollywood. The sounds of the animations come from different sound archives and are categorized as Little spaceship, Mothership and Ghost sound from 60’s. In many cases a theremine is used, an electronical instrument controlled by moving one’s hands in the air. The theremine has become synonym with science fiction sound effects. |
